Smartmuseum software - the winner of World Summit Award Mobile Contest 2010.

Smartmuseum mobile phone software developed by Webgate was awarded as global winner of WSA mobile Contest 2010 in category "m-Tourism & Culture". WSA jury evaluated 430 entries nominated from nearly 100 countries. The award was received by Mr. Stoyanov at the WSA Winners' Gala on 6th December 2010 in Abu-Dhabi.

The Final Review Meeting of SMARTMUSEUM project was succesfully held in Malta.

16.03.2010, Tallinn, Estonia

SMARTMUSEUM solution was presented to Estonian Prime Minister Mr. Juhan Parts who visited ELIKO Competence Centre.

15-16.12.2009, Florence, Italy

SMARTMUSEUM solution was presented at Conference on Online Cultural Heritage and User Communities. The workshop in Florence was organized in cooperation with Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale.

25.11.2009, Florence, Italy

SMARTMUSEUM solution was presented to a group of ten people of the post-graduate course "Responsible for the use and development of cultural heritage" organized by Basilicata Region.

11-16.10.2009, Sliema, Malta

First public testings were succesfully performed in mid-October during SEMAPRO event at The Third International Conference on Advances in Semantic Processing. This workshop aimed at bringing together potential end-users and stakeholders to the test site at the Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, it included a visit to the Smartmuseum test site for the conference delegates. Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale in Florence on 11th June 2009

To disseminate Project results, IMSS presented the Project to a group of interested people from local institutions at Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale in Florence on 11th June 2009.

ESWC event 31 May - 4 June 2009, Heraklion, Greece

Prof. Hyvönen (TKK) gave a presentation of SmartMuseum at the EU Matchmaking event ESWC in June.

Prague Research Connection Event 7-8 May 2009

SMARTMUSEUM project took part in the Prague Research Connection Event. SMARTMUSEUM was in Stand 34 together with composition of SmartEstonia.

EVA Conference in Florence, 29 April 2009

To disseminate early Project results, IMSS prepared and presented a collaborative paper in EVA Conference in Florence, 29 April.

SMARTMUSEUM 4th meeting + Review meeting Bulgaria, Sofia 1-3 April 2009

PMB meeting was held on 01-02.04.2009, the main focus of the meeting was to conclude the activities of the first reporting period and analyse existing deviations.
The first review meeting took place on 03.04.2009. Meeting reflected the general progress of SMARTMUSEUM project during the first reporting period, check out the photos!

WICT 2008 Malta 17-18 November 2008

WICT was recently held at the Old University Building, St. Paul's Street, Valletta. WICT 2008 is the 1st National ICT Conference organised by the Faculty of ICT within the University of Malta. The purpose of this conference is to promote research and applications of technologies and practices in the field of ICT. WICT 2008 solicited the submission of original papers dealing with both theoretical and practical aspects of ICT research. Authors are encouraged to present repeatability of their experiments and share with the community the data and test harnesses used. Topics included (but are not limited to) any aspect from the following fields:

  • Computer Information Systems;
  • Computer Science;
  • Artificial Intelligence;
  • Communications and Computer Engineering;
  • Micro and Nano electronics.

Malta Research EXPO 2008

The Malta Council for Science and Technology organised the Research EXPO 2008, from the 3rd to the 7th November in Kalkara. The aim was to showcase research in Malta. The event mainly targeted science students in post-secondary and tertiary levels of education. HM staff attended the research event and distributed leaflets and other promotional material about the SmartMuseum project to give attendees the opportunity to see tangible examples of ongoing projects funded by FP7.

The Seventh Framework Programme: Opportunities fo SMEs

This event was held at The Coastline Hotel, Salina Bay on 12 June 2008 between 9.00 and 13.00. The speakers included Dr Barend Verachtert, Head of Sector at the European Commission’s DG Research. In his presentation, Dr Verachtert focused specifically on the various opportunities for SMEs under FP7. Other speakers outlined the general content of FP7 and addressed the assistance available for SMEs, as well as the national Research and Innovation Programme. There also was a Project Gallery during which success stories from Malta where presented and discussed. HM staff attended the research event and distributed leaflets and other promotional material about the SmartMuseum project.

EU Research Funding for Industry Info Day

In order to promote more qualitative and effective participation in FP7 from Industry’s behalf, the Malta Council for Science and Technology and the Malta Federation of Industry organised an Info Day on Wednesday 9 January, 2008 on two themes:

  • Nanosciences, nanotechnologies, materials & new production technologies;
  • Research for the benefit of SMEs.

HM staff attended the research event and distributed leaflets and other promotional material about the SmartMuseum project.
